Kit: MS581G
Bachmann and Kernow have done a fabulous job on their EFE range LSWR T3 model! Rigid metal frame, lots of detail, smooth
mechanism, and easy provision for sound and stay-alive.

Engine and tender are connected by a 6pin electrical plug with clip - works really well. The model also comes with a firebox
light.

Accessing the DCC socket in the tender is by 4 screws in the corners underneath the tender. They area little tricky to get to
with the rodding in place, but once removed the tender body just lifts off.

Inside is revealed the Next18 DCC socket (and blanking plate if you get the DC model). A peak underneath the PCB reveals twin
SugarCube speakers as standard - these work well so no need to consider how to fit something larger.

The MS581G sound decoder will be the best choice - comes with trailing wires for a pair of GoldCaps (also supplied).

The GoldCaps are connected in series, and there's plenty of room in the tender, either on top of the metal weight at the front,
or if you connected the caps neatly enough, then you can put them in a convenient space at the front. Either wrap in Kapton
tape, or in heat shrink (like our final install photo below).

A special edition kit is available for the T3 with the GoldCaps pre-connected and wrapped in heat shrink. Also included in the
pack is an exclusive booklet for the sound kit. A donation is made to the Swanage Railway Trust, for maintenaince of locomotive
563, if you go with this option.
