Ordering Information

YouChoos Products

Below you can find details of how to order a YouChoos product. We would be delighted to discuss and clarify any of the details with you!

How to Order

The nature of most YouChoos' products means that close communication with our clients is necessary. Each loco is unique, tailored physically depending upon your personal preferences, as well as fine-tuning of any programming of DCC decoders, such as function mapping, loco address, which sound effects you'd prefer etc.

Therefore, to place an order for any YouChoos' product please first contact us by e-mail at john@youchoos.co.uk to start discussions. This includes ready-to-run locos, commissions, components and kits. When initially contacting us, please provide as much detail as possible:

  • which model (be as precise as possible) e.g. manufacturer, product code if known and description
  • whether you own the model, or if it is one listed, or if you would like YouChoos to source it for you
  • what specification you would like - sound, smoke, firebox, cab light, crew, detailing, weathering, loco lamps, coach lighting etc.
  • your time-scales - we usually work to a turn around time of 3-4 weeks, but can accomodate special requests if necessary
  • your contact details - e-mail address, telephone, postal address
  • which DCC system you use (can be useful in suggesting function mapping, for example)

Warranty & Returns

I try to be as helpful as possible, and if a problem develops with your loco within the first 30 days after shipping, I will endeavour to repair / replace faulty components, or can offer advice if you wish to perform the repair yourself. Hopefully this is very unlikely given the thorough testing that has taken place. Most of the components will also still be covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee.

After 30 days I can offer advice or can provide a repair service (with associated cost).

Repairs required because of damage caused through careless handling or improper use cannot be covered.

Postage & Packing

Postage & Package for a single loco, or 3-coach pack is £10 within the UK, using Post Office Special Delivery Next Day service. One additional loco or coach pack can usually be posted within this rate too, but ask me to confirm with you if you have a larger order. Within the UK I insist that postage of models is done using the Special Delivery method, as this offers full insurance.

For postage overseas, please contact me first for a quote.

Postage for sound decoders loaded with YouChoos sound projects is free within the UK.

All other components, including standard decoders and blank sound decoders costs £2.50 within the UK.

Payment

Payment can be made by direct bank transfer (I will supply details on receipt of order), card, PayPal, or cheque (made out to "YouChoos"). Funds must be cleared before items are sent, unless prior agreement has been made.

If an item is already held in stock, no deposit will be required until the work is complete. However, if I have to order any items in especially for a commission then I will normally request a deposit to cover the cost of those items to secure the order.

Loyalty Discounts

I like to reward my repeat customers who come back for more, and will generally discount some part of the price for future locos or additional work - don't be shy to ask!

Pricing

I do not produce a huge number of locos for sale, but when I do I sometimes send an e-mail to existing customers to notify them of a new product, giving them the option to purchase it first, and to offer potentially reduced prices. If a loco does not sell via this method within a week or two, I will normally then list it on eBay where the price will be higher because of eBay and PayPal fees. You will typically save between £20 and £30 over the eventual eBay price.
